What’s in Your Bag? A PIKA Weekend at the Cottage

After a long work week in front of the computer, heading to the cottage for a quick weekend getaway is the perfect way to unwind, relax, and spend time outdoors with the kids. 

But it can also be tricky trying to plan all the things you need for just a few days. Too much stuff? Not enough? We get it! 

That’s why we’ve created our list of the 6 must-bring essentials for a weekend at the cottage so that you can get back to nature with the family and leave the packing stress at home.

1. UPF 50+ Clothing

We understand the lure of a hot, sunny day, but it's also important to keep in mind the dangers of sun exposure, especially to the sensitive skin of young children. For UPF 50+ coverage sure to keep your little ones safe from UV rays, pack along a silky PIKA Sun shirt or Playsuit!

2. Bathing Suits

Of course if you’re heading up to the lake this Summer, it’s likely there will be lots of swimming! For optimal packing, bring at least two bathers (per kid) so no one will have to change into a wet suit during the day. 

3. Beach Towels

Of course, with swimming also comes drying off and so beach towels are a must-bring for a weekend at the cottage. Pack along a few of these so that you can alternate towels - no one likes to dry off with something that's already wet!

4. Water Shoes

Unlike pools, lakes and bays are not always flat at the bottom and you'll often find poky shells and rocks. To avoid toe injuries, bring along some water shoes for your kids that can be both their in-water foot protection and comfy day shoes.

5. Sun Protective Accessories

To stay completely sun-safe, it’s recommended that you take extra precautions other than just sunscreen. Garments like brimmed hats, sunglasses, and UPF 50+ blankets are the perfect thing to bring along.

6. PJs

Maybe one of the most important things to bring for your little one is a nice, cozy pair of PJs! There’s nothing quite like snuggling up by the campfire at the cottage, and we want your children to enjoy it in comfort.
